Heads up PS3 fans

Hey guys sorry I haven’t been keeping up with this blog.  Because of time constraints I will now only be able to post on Fridays.  However, I do still post every other day on Channel Surfin With the Capn so be sure to check that out.  Now back to business.

Your first look at the new PS3

Your first look at the new PS3

There  have been a lot of interesting things going on with the PS 3.  For starters Sonyreleased images of a new, slimmer Playstation 3.  The new model is similar to the slim PS 2.  Personally, I prefer the original model as it just looks like a full system.  In any case, rumors are circulating that this bad boy will be released in fall.  I haven’t heard anything about the price though.

If you already have a PS 3 it’s time to take a look at the games you need in your life.  Let’s start with Killzone 2.  This game is the best PS 3 exclusive first person shooter.  The story is pretty good and does incorporate the 6-axis control system.  But this games true strengths lie in the online play.  Aside from killing people, you are constantly upgrading your character, unlocking and developing new jobs.  Though some jobs limit you to certain weapons, their benefits more than make up for the lack of fire power.  If you own a PS 3 it’s time to check this game out.

Drake is always ready

Drake is always ready

Some other games coming out that need to be checked out are God of War 3 and Uncharted 2.  In fact, I originally bought my PS 3 because I knew when God of War came out I would have to own it.  Kratos is the ultimate bad ass and now he is working to take down the gods.  Add the titans to this game, and he’ll definitely have his hands full.  Uncharted 2 once again follows Drake on his treasure hunts.  If you never played the original Uncharted(Another great Sony exclusive) pick it up,  you will not be disappointed.  Look for both of these games to hit stores later this year.

The Realm of Comic Books

Hello folks, today I’m gonna talk to you guys about some of the things going on in the world of comic books.

Expect to see a Batman/ Superman showdown in Hush

Damn Jim Lee can draw

If you are looking for something interesting to read then you might wanna check out my favorite story arc, Batman: Hush.  Written by Jeph Loeb and drawn by fan favorite, Jim Lee, Hush includes all of Batman’s best rouges and coolest allies.  With multiple twists and turns, as well as a shocking return, this comic series has it all including a Bat vs. Supes brawl.  Batman: Hush is available in single issue form and trade paperback collection.  This is one series you won’t want to miss.

All hail Doom!

All hail Doom!

For some cool collectibles check out Hasbro‘s Mighty Mugg collection.  Mighty Muggs take popular characters from various franchises such as Marvel, Star Wars, G. I. Joe and Transformers, then make neat and original figurines out of them.  They don’t do very much but man do they look good.

For a little more interaction, check out the video game, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.  Coming out at the end of the year, now is the best time to catch up on the story by playing through the first game.  The  Alliance series lets you play as plenty of your favorite heroes and offers even more cameos from the Marvel universe.  Ulitmate Alliance is one of my favorite games and I can not wait to get my hands sequel.

Well that’s all for today folks, see you Tuesday.

What’s in your console?

So right now I’m in the middle of a few different games, all of which I thought worth mentioning in today’s post.  All of which are worth checking out.

Sometimes all you have to do is wait

Sometimes all you have to do is wait

For starters, I always have an online shooter to play.  This leads me to Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.  This game is great.  Whether you are playing the story mode (A parallel sequel to the original), terrorist hunts (A mode in which you kill a set number of enemies), or even the online versus mode, you are always ranking yourself up, allowing you access to more weapons and essentially more destruction.

Edge fears no creature

I also just started Star Ocean: The Last Hope.  RPGs have always been my favorite type of video game, however in this day and age it’s hard to find any good ones.  In any case, you can always count on a game from the Star Ocean series combining sci-fi with drama to bring you unique and developed characters.  If love long, drawn out games with a unique battle system then this game is for you.

Anything you can do he can do better

Anything you can do he can do better

Lastly I am also playing Skate 2.  Having been a huge fan of the Tony Hawk series since the days of P.S. 1 I was a little reluctant to play Skate at first.  However, that soon changed after spending just 5 minutes with the game.  Skate is cool because you actually flip the joystick in different motions to do different tricks.  I’m not gonna lie, it is kind of hard at first, however the more you play the easier it becomes.  Still, I’m waiting for the Tony Hawk series to steal this concept and make it better when they make their triumphant return in 2010.

Well that’s all for today but be sure to check out those games, all of which I can personally vouch for.

Movies, movies, movies

Quantum of Solace available now on Blue Ray & DVD

Quantum of Solace available now on Blue Ray & DVD

I was watching T.V. the other night and a commercial came on for 007’s Quantum of Solace.  They stated that Bond was meant for Blue Ray and I couldn’t agree more.  Having just entered the realm of HD myself, one of the first things I made sure to watch was Casino Royale and I can not wait to grab my copy of Solace.  If you have a Blue Ray player, then you should check out the of Quantum of Solace on Blue Ray Disc whichs picks up right where Casino Royale left off.

Sucks for the people on that bridge
For a more light hearted movie, head to your local theater to catch Monsters vs. Aliens also available in 3-D.  Featuring an all star cast, this comedy is one for all ages.

If none of these movies fit your fancy, I heard that Wolverine Origins was leaked online earlier this morning.  No, this is not an April Fools joke.  You can actually watch Origins online at movie6.net.  However, I’m not sure how long they will have it posted so you better check it out before it’s too late.  Otherwise, head to theatres May 1, to catch Logan on the big screen.
